Harriet & Sam | A stunning DIY wedding out in the country
A few weeks ago I went out to the Norfolk and Suffolk border to photograph the wedding of the lovely Harriet & Sam. I love all the weddings I photograph, basically I love my job (insert smugness here), but there’s always bit of something special when absolutely everything is done by their own fair hands. For example, the barn itself wasn’t fumigated until a couple of weeks before as it is a working farm, and everything, and I mean everything, had to be made and hired and curated by the family. You can see from their wedding photos what a smashing job they had all done, and they even booked the sun to turn up just in time for the nuptials as rain had been forecast most of the week. The wedding day itself was an absolute blast, a fabulous family and bunch of friends, all so warm and welcoming. I found it hard to take a bad picture of anyone! All helped by the fact the gene pool is strong with this one, an amazing bunch of bridesmaids most of who were Sister’s and all a bunch of beauties, plus the other bridesmaids too – one who randomly is my Sister-In-Law-To-Be and wasn’t aware I was photographing the wedding until recently. Further evidence that we’re all related out here in the East! Tis a small world, but heck it was a big wedding with some amazing speeches from all involved, and tons of banter and utter joy all day long. Sam was quite the model when it came to having his picture taken, check out the ‘blue steel’ look. I gave up trying to make them look ‘romantic’, it’s not my style of photography and they are clearly smitten with each other and meant to be, and after all that’s all that matters. I couldn’t stop them laughing! And that’s what I think a wedding should be about. Happiness, joy, and celebration in abundance. And this lovely lot, boy they know how to celebrate. Another belter of a wedding in the families own back yard, here’s a few of my faves from their day…
